ILS Systems Engineer

Engineer capability that matters.
Bring your systems thinking to a major Defence program and help shape the future of critical communications capability.

About You

You’re a systems-minded engineer who enjoys turning complex requirements into practical, well-integrated solutions. With at least two years’ experience in a technical or engineering environment, you bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of your work.

You understand the engineering lifecycle and are comfortable working with engineering toolsets such as PLM, MRP, design, simulation or analysis systems. Experience in requirements management will be highly regarded, along with an understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles and how effective support systems contribute to long-term capability.

You’re a collaborative communicator who can work across engineering, ILS and program teams, contribute to technical discussions and clearly document your recommendations and solutions. You’re also keen to keep learning, share knowledge and continuously improve the way things are done.

You’ll bring an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering, or recognised engineering qualifications that support eligibility for Professional Engineer membership with a recognised engineering body. You’ll also be motivated to continue your professional development and work towards chartership.

About the Role

As an ILS Systems Engineer, you’ll join Babcock’s Integrated Logistics Support team supporting the JP9101 program, working across the existing Defence High Frequency Communications System and its enhanced capability.

This is an opportunity to apply your Systems Engineering expertise to a complex Defence program with genuine through-life impact. You’ll help develop and manage the Support System capabilities that enable critical communications technology to remain effective, supportable and ready throughout its lifecycle.

Your work will span requirements management, verification and validation, interface management, engineering change and technical documentation. You’ll conduct technical investigations and risk assessments, develop engineering solutions and contribute to decisions that help shape the ongoing performance and supportability of the capability.

Working closely with ILS specialists, engineers, program teams and customers, you’ll contribute to technical reviews, provide engineering advice and ensure technical records and documentation are accurate, secure and maintained throughout the program lifecycle.

Beyond your day-to-day engineering activities, you’ll have the opportunity to share knowledge, contribute to process improvements and explore innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance engineering outcomes. With exposure to a major Defence program and a broad network of technical expertise, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your Systems Engineering career while contributing to capability that really matters.
