About the role
As a Systems Engineer at Babcock, you’ll apply your engineering expertise across the product lifecycle, delivering technical investigations, analysis, engineering solutions and documentation that support the development and sustainment of complex products and services.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll plan and deliver your own work while making sound engineering decisions within your discipline and contributing to technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll play an important role in maintaining engineering rigour across the lifecycle, including technical risk and product safety considerations, compliance with relevant standards and the development of effective engineering processes.
You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and business development activities, helping Babcock deliver safe, innovative and sustainable solutions while building capability across the wider engineering team.
About you
An experienced engineer, you’ll bring a strong technical foundation and the ability to apply engineering principles to investigate problems, develop practical solutions and make informed decisions within your area of expertise.
A sound understanding of design, analysis, manufacturing and through-life support practices will be complemented by an appreciation of how adjacent engineering disciplines and technologies interface with your work.
Strong communication and collaboration skills will enable you to work effectively with technical teams and a broad range of stakeholders.
You’ll take ownership of your work, deliver outcomes safely and effectively, and confidently communicate technical information through reviews and presentations.
A commitment to continuous learning, knowledge sharing and improving engineering practices will be key to your success in this role.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
- An understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).
- Exposure and experience in Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
- Desirable systems engineering experience in a RF, HF and/or communications relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience of requirements management and use of associated toolsets (e.g. IBM DOORS).
- Proficient in using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and other project management and documentation software.
