WestJet is seeking passionate and detail-oriented individuals to join our Flight Dispatch team. Our Flight Dispatchers are responsible for safe and efficient operational control of all flights, in conjunction with the Pilot in Command, across an expansive network serviced by a fleet of De Havilland Dash 8-400, Boeing 737NG, 737-MAX and 787 aircraft.

*Note: We operate 24/7/365 days per year. Successful candidates will be scheduled days/evenings/weekends and statutory holidays.
Job Description:
Exercise co-authority operational control over flights in conjunction with the Pilot in Command in accordance with all Canadian and foreign regulations and WestJet policies and procedures.
Analyze and interpret operational information including weather, NOTAM, aerodrome and runway suitability, navigation aids, communications facilities, en-route and other constraints.
Flight planning, including route analysis, calculation of fuel requirements, formulation, authorization and amendment of operational flight plans.
File and amend flight plans with appropriate ATC facilities.
Maintain Flight Watch over all flights within the sector of operation.
Provide comprehensive flight crew briefings.
Coordinate aircraft MEL and maintenance limitations with Maintenance Control.
Coordinate airport curfew extension approvals as required with local airport authorities.
Communicate information pertaining to irregular operations to the Lead Flight Dispatcher and Commercial Operations including recommendations for flight delays and cancellations.
Here is what we are looking for:
Successful completion of the Transport Canada Flight Dispatch Generic Examinations (FDOPS and FDMET) is required.
Radio Telephone Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A) is required.
Minimum 21 years of age as per Transport Canada regulations is required.
One year flight dispatch experience in a (CARS 705) Type A or B operational control system is preferred.
Related experience within a Flight Operations team is an asset.
FAA Dispatch License is an asset.
Commercial Pilot License is an asset.
Flight Service Specialist experience is an asset.
Strong multitasking abilities in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Clear, concise, and professional communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
Proficiency in general computer applications.
A proactive, solution-oriented attitude with a “can-do” spirit.
