Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering and an interest in growing capability in mechatronic systems design. This role will support the design, analysis, development and delivery of engineering solutions, while helping to build capability in areas such as electronics integration, sensing, actuation and control systems.
The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical design experience, together with the curiosity, adaptability and technical breadth needed to work across mechanical, electrical, electronic and software boundaries. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is comfortable working in an R&D environment, can help define practical approaches, support cross-functional learning and deliver robust product solutions. Key Responsibilities
Apply strong mechanical engineering and product design skills to solve complex technical problems and develop robust, manufacturable and innovative solutions.
Support the development of mechatronic products and assemblies, including contribution to electronics integration, PCB-related design considerations and electromechanical system development.
Work across a range of engineering lifecycle phases, including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing, validation, verification and implementation, in line with business standards, practices, procedures and product or programme requirements.
Challenge established approaches where appropriate and propose innovative solutions supported by sound engineering judgement.
Use a range of internal and external sources beyond the immediate team to inform decisions and solve problems.
Support prototype build, workshop activities, fabrication, assembly and testing as required.
Contribute to the development of practical methods, standards and ways of working in emerging mechatronics-related activities.
Support root cause investigations, technical reviews, design improvements and risk reduction activities.
