The role
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a pivotal role in influencing the design, build, supportability and long-term availability of the UK's future submarine fleet. Working at the heart of one of the most significant defence programmes in the country, you'll act as Babcock's senior engineering representative, collaborating with major industry partners and defence stakeholders to ensure the insights of the in-service maintainer are embedded into future submarine capability
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to
Lead engineering supportability activities across future submarine programmes.
Influence senior stakeholders and industrial partners to ensure engineering support considerations remain central to programme decisions.
Represent Babcock at technical, programme and customer engagement forums.
Provide expert advice and guidance on submarine maintenance, support and availability requirements.
Collaborate with defence, customer and industry partners to drive effective engineering outcomes and future capability development.
35 hours per week, based at Barrow-in-Furness. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other Babcock sites will be expected, including Devonport, Clyde and Bristol
Essential experience of the Engineering Manager
Significant engineering leadership experience within complex, highly regulated engineering environments.
Extensive experience planning and/or delivering submarine maintenance activities within a waterfront setting.
In-depth knowledge of nuclear submarine base or deep maintenance, including product safety and assurance.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders across multiple organisations.
