Job Title: Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering – Cable Design Lead

Job Description

L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled Level 4 Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. Essential Functions

• Lead the design, development, and release of cable and harness assemblies from initial concept through production implementation.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation required for cable release, including schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, parts lists, and associated product definition data.
• Perform cable and interconnect design activities, including wire selection, connector selection, shielding, grounding, routing, protection, and installation definition.
• Review and approve engineering change requests, deviations, and release packages related to cable assemblies.
• Interface with suppliers to resolve design, documentation, and producibility issues.
• Generate and manage system- and subsystem-level requirements specifications using requirements management tools such as DOORS, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead and coordinate technical teams in a collaborative environment to successfully meet project objectives.
• Interpret and apply Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Apply knowledge of TEMPEST Red/Black separation requirements and cable routing best practices.
• Support design considerations related to HEMP and EMI protection, including conduit selection, routing, and installation practices.
• Apply working knowledge of conduit design principles, including flexible vs. rigid conduit applications and general conduit fill guidelines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant systems engineering experience, OR
• Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant systems engineering experience OR
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with RF and SATCOM communications.
• Experience with cable/harness design and engineering release processes.
• Ability to understand, create, and maintain cable design documentation.
• Knowledge of cable design principles, including routing, shielding, grounding, and connector selection.
