At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Quality Lead at our Rosyth site.

The role

As a Quality Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a rare opportunity to build and lead the quality function for a complex international shipbuilding programme. This is a highly influential role where you'll establish quality governance, assurance frameworks, and compliance processes that support successful programme delivery across both the United Kingdom and overseas operations.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Developing and maintaining programme quality plans, assurance processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Leading quality oversight across suppliers, subcontractors, and delivery teams to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for quality matters with customers, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring quality performance through audits, inspections, reporting, and corrective action activities to drive continuous improvement.
  • Building, mentoring, and influencing quality teams while promoting a strong quality culture across the programme.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based at Rosyth with hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Quality Lead

  • Experience in a senior quality leadership, quality management, or programme quality role within shipbuilding, marine, manufacturing, or complex engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, quality assurance methodologies, auditing processes, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality plans, governance frameworks, and assurance processes across large-scale programmes or projects.
  • Knowledge of certification, regulatory, and classification body requirements, with experience engaging customers, auditors, and assurance stakeholders.
  • Experience managing supplier quality, influencing cross-functional teams, and driving quality performance within complex delivery environments.

Qualifications for the Quality Lead

  • Degree, Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
  • Lead Auditor qualification or demonstrable experience conducting quality audits.
  • Qualification or certification in Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, or a related discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems within engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Evidence of continued professional development in quality, engineering, compliance, or operational excellence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
