Compensation: £39,327 - £46,064 + Benefits

The role

As a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working on one of the UK's most significant naval programmes, you'll help assure the quality of mission-critical assets that contribute to a safe and secure world.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

  • Carrying out Non-Destructive Testing and quality inspections on ship construction and structural welds.
  • Conducting acceptance inspections to verify compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Liaising with classification societies, inspection authorities and third-party verification bodies to coordinate inspection activities.
  • Managing inspection records, quality documentation and completion certification to ensure full traceability.
  • Supporting quality investigations, audits and reporting activities while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth. Set working times are Monday to Thursday, with overtime opportunities available on Fridays, Sundays and selected weekday evenings.

Essential experience of the Non-Destructive Testing Inspector

  • Experience working within shipbuilding, marine, heavy engineering, manufacturing or other highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of quality control requirements, inspection processes and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience inspecting completed work and assessing compliance against engineering specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of Measurement Management Systems and quality compliance frameworks, including ISO 10012.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a good understanding of Non-Destructive Testing methods and standards.

Qualifications for the Non-Destructive Testing Inspector

  • PCN Level 2 certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) 3.1, 3.2, 3.7, 3.8 or 3.9.
  • PCN Level 2 certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
  • PCN Level 2 certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) – desirable
  • CSWIP 3.1 certification – desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
