Position Summary

The Manager, Operations Analytics reports to the Director, Operations Strategy and Engineering and is responsible for JetBlue’s overall Operations Analytics strategy, delivering credible insights, advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and decision-support capabilities that improve operational performance and inform long-term planning, day-of operations, and post-hoc analysis. They represent Operational teams in leading the development and evolution of JetBlue’s Operations Analytics capabilities, including emerging AI-enabled solutions. The Manager serves as a strategic thought partner to Operations leadership, translating complex operational data into actionable insights and recommendations. The role is expected to balance analytical rigor, operational practicality, and business value while establishing standards for analytical quality, modeling, visualization, automation, and data integrity. Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct strategic, operational, and advanced analytics in support of corporate initiatives and operational performance improvement
  • Develop and execute an Operations Analytics roadmap aligned to business priorities, identifying and prioritizing opportunities for analytics, predictive modeling, automation, and AI to improve operational decision-making
  • Lead the development, evaluation, and application of predictive models, statistical methods, optimization techniques, simulation, machine learning, and other advanced analytical approaches to solve complex operational problems
  • Translate complex operational questions into analytical frameworks, hypotheses, models, and actionable recommendations for Operations leadership
  • Identify opportunities to transform recurring analysis, manual processes, and operational decision-making into scalable analytics products, automated insights, and self-service capabilities
  • Partner with Information Technology, Data Engineering, Data Science, and operational stakeholders to develop and deploy scalable data and AI platforms that support Operations decision-making
  • Assess the costs, benefits, risks, and expected return on investment of corporate initiatives
  • Investigate and determine root causes of operational events, performance issues, and failures using data-driven analytical techniques
  • Produce operations briefings and executive-level insights for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Serve as a trusted analytical advisor to Operations leaders and functional departments, providing actionable insights and decision support rather than simply fulfilling data requests
  • Develop dashboards, data products, and other visualization tools that enable leaders and frontline teams to understand operational performance, drivers, trends, and opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Operations to establish clear metrics, goals, and analytical standards
  • Review and assess regulatory data/reporting policy creation and revisions
  • Prepare regulatory reports and data files per government requirements to ensure corporate consistency, data integrity, and compliance
  • Stay current on emerging analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and decision-support technologies and assess their applicability to airline Operations data and analytics
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth and goal achievement.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Transportation Planning, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with the combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in operations planning, data analysis, predictive modeling, data science, decision support, or a related analytical field
  • Proficient with SQL, data structures, and modern analytical data environments
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar high-level programming language
  • Proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
  • Demonstrated experience developing or implementing predictive models, optimization techniques, simulation, machine learning, or other advanced analytical methods
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analytical results into clear business recommendations and influence decision-making at multiple levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective cross-functional partnerships
  • Strong airline business acumen or demonstrated ability to quickly develop deep operational understanding
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to lead multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Able to communicate complex technical and analytical concepts in an assertive and tactful manner to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of data analytics, data science, operations research, decision support, or related experience in aviation, aerospace, transportation, or another complex operational industry
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • Advanced degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Transportation, or a related field
  • Thorough understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to scheduled domestic and international air carrier operations
  • Knowledge of airline operational processes, systems, and performance metrics
  • Knowledge and/or experience with best practices throughout the airline industry
  • Experience developing analytics teams, mentoring technical talent, and establishing analytical standards and best practices

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation

  • The base pay range for this position is between $114,000.00 and $170,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
