This job is a member of the People Business Partner Team within the People Division. Responsible for contributing to American Airlines’ success through consulting, identifying and delivering People (Human Resource) services and solutions that will result in enhanced business capability, and performance/ people engagement.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with leaders across multiple countries within an assigned region, serving as a strategic People partner
  • Advise leaders on people strategies, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and talent initiatives aligned with business objectives
  • Provide guidance on team member relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations in compliance with local labor laws and company policies
  • Partner with leaders to execute annual people processes and drive team member engagement, development, and retention initiatives
  • Support talent management activities including succession planning, talent reviews, leadership development, and performance management
  • Lead and develop a team of People specialists located across multiple countries, providing coaching, guidance, and support to drive consistent service delivery and team performance
  • Establish priorities, allocate work, and foster collaboration across geographically dispersed team members to ensure effective execution of regional People initiatives and business objectives
  • Lead and support change management, organizational design, and business transformation initiatives across the region
  • Ensure compliance with country-specific employment laws, regulations, labor practices, and collective bargaining agreements while recommending solutions to address business needs
  • Analyze workforce trends and organizational challenges to develop recommendations that support business performance and the team member experience
  • Partner with regional and global Centers of Excellence, including Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Team Member Relations, and Talent Management, to deliver effective people solutions and support business objectives

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of human resources experience
  • 3 years in handling team member relations
  • 2 years staff supervisory/management experience or equivalent
  • Fluently read, write, and speak English and Spanish
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience supporting business operations across multiple countries and diverse cultural environments
  • Knowledge of international employment practices, labor laws, and regulatory requirements
  • Experienced in providing guidance and counsel to executive leaders
  • Ability to speak Portuguese

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal skills, organizational, and analytical capabilities
  • Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills
  • Skills in problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations in a professional and dignified manner
  • Ability to work independently and to be highly self-motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and produce results
