Manager Financial Control
Fiji Airways is seeking a highly capable and experienced professional to fill the role of Manager Financial Control, leading the Group's core financial control, reporting and technical accounting activities. The role is responsible for ensuring a strong financial control environment through high-quality financial reporting, IFRS compliance, audit coordination, balance sheet governance, tax oversight, and the effective management of aircraft financing and fleet-related accounting transactions, while providing leadership and technical guidance to the Financial Control team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, statutory disclosures and management reports.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and new accounting standards.
- Maintain compliance with IFRS and applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate implementation of new and amended accounting standards
- Lead external audit coordination and statutory reporting.
- Oversee financial controls, policies, reconciliations and governance frameworks.
- Coordinate tax and financial compliance obligations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead accounting assessments for aircraft acquisitions, disposals, leases and financing arrangements.
- Ensure appropriate accounting, reporting, disclosure and compliance requirements are understood and maintained.
- Strengthen capability and knowledge within the Financial Control team relating to fleet transactions.
- Lead, coach and develop the Financial Control team.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for financial reporting, accounting, audit, tax and control matters.
- Support finance transformation initiatives to improve reporting, controls, data quality and process efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Fully qualified accountant or in training for completion of CA, CPA or CFA.
- At least five years of experience with either a recognised firm of accountants or a reputable local or international business.
- Strong technical skills and external audit experience.
- Skilled in MS Excel and experience of EPICOR would be advantageous.
- Expected to challenge historical ways of working and be tenacious in your pursuit of excellence.
- Team player and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, be challenging and resilient, whilst maintaining independence and objectivity.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a positive can do attitude.
- Good organisational and problem solving skills with the ability to work on own initiative with energy, drive and commitment to deliver high quality results to tight timescales.
- Excellent analytical and presentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Drives customer service and continuous improvement.
