The role

As an IT Customer Support Specialist, you’ll provide the day-to-day interface between customers, operational stakeholders, and Babcock's internal IT teams. Working within a dynamic defence environment, you'll support the delivery and maintenance of IT services, hardware, audio-visual equipment, telecommunications, and training systems that are essential to military flying training. This role offers a unique blend of technical support, customer engagement, and operational responsibility.

Day-to-day, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to join a team supporting the UK Military Flying Training System, where technology plays a vital role in preparing military personnel for the challenges of tomorrow. You'll be at the heart of delivering exceptional IT support, ensuring training environments remain operational, connected, and effective. Every day, your work will help enable critical defence training while giving you the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, build strong stakeholder relationships, and grow your career within a global engineering and technology organisation.

  • Supporting users with IT incidents and service requests, delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Acting as the escalation point for local operational IT issues and flying training events.
  • Managing and maintaining IT hardware, software, telecommunications and audio-visual equipment across the site.
  • Providing IT inductions for new starters, including preparing and deploying hardware and user accounts.
  • Configuring and supporting training environments, including classroom technology and equipment deployments.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall.

Essential experience of the IT Customer Support Specialist

  • Experience providing second-line IT support within a professional environment.
  • Experience supporting users in a Windows and Microsoft technology environment.
  • Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers and wider business teams.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering services within agreed standards and expectations.

Qualifications for the IT Customer Support Specialist

  • ITIL Foundation Certification - Desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
