Job Summary This role holds overall responsibility as Planning Manager for the entire IAD Base, encompassing both SPX (Swissport United Express Operation) and SPI (Swissport International Operation). The successful candidate will oversee scheduling, attendance reliability, and day-to-day operations across the base, with full oversight of the Operations Control Centre (OCC), and will report directly to the Station Director of the base. The expected pay rate is $70,000-75,000/year. Your Activities Planning Act as Planning Manager for the whole IAD Base, covering both SPX (Swissport United Express Operation) and SPI (Swissport International Operation) Manage scheduling and attendance reliability across all operational teams Responsible for all pre-planning activities for the base Manage labor costs for the base in the most effective way by ensuring schedules are efficient Assist in the preparation of the operating budgets for the following year for prior approval by the Station Director Efficient Resource Planning (manpower, equipment) Must comply with Swissport's standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies Quality Management Ensure service levels are achieved Maintain close and effective business relationships with customers, and various control authorities such as Airport Management, Customs, Immigration Establish strong leadership within all supervisors and ramp employees through excellent communication skills and a positive work environment Operational Oversight Hold full day-to-day operational oversight of the IAD Base, including both SPX and SPI operations Provide full oversight of the Operations Control Centre (OCC), ensuring effective coordination and communication across all operational functions Report directly to the Station Director of the base Controlling & Reporting Monitor and control performance KPIs, including attendance reliability, and ensure they are within established goals Ensure that all records of all transactions relating to the operation are maintained Ensure that administrative and control policies and procedures are maintained Assure all employees comply with company rules and procedures and other authority requirements Take disciplinary action with subordinates as needed Supporting Ensure that there are effective planning methods and procedures in place to ensure that there are adequate resources, both manpower and equipment, to meet operational needs across SPX and SPI Implement, maintain, and closely supervise all safety and security measures related to people, equipment, facilities, and aircraft involved in the operation Solve conflicts/irregularities and take appropriate action Participate in meetings internally and externally as may be required Implement and monitor the local emergency plan Skills & Experience Required Must have experience as a leader on the ramp with a good understanding of ramp operations Familiarity with RealTime, Arrows, and Dayforce tools to perform the job efficiently Availability Requirement This is a highly demanding role requiring an open and flexible schedule, including availability at any time of day, to manage the needs of over 20 airline partners simultaneously and respond effectively to varying customer requirements around the clock Your Profile At least 1 year of operational experience, bachelor’s degree Preferred Good working knowledge of the issues involved in managing a labor-intensive workforce. Excellent planning and communication skills. Evidence of good level of people and operational management skills including leadership, resource management, planning, negotiation, communication, financial and HR skills. Good working knowledge of the statutory and procedural obligations of the business including health and safety, employment, and security issues. Ability to assess situations and instigate corrective action quickly and accurately. Flexibility to work on various shifts – Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends and Holiday periods in line with business demand and operational requirements. Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
