Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Final Assembly Inspector 4 to support the Delivery Inspection located in El Segundo, CA facility.
Job Essential Functions
Visually and physically inspect aircraft center fuselage structure, system and electrical installations for conformance to engineering requirements using a variety of precision measurement equipment and inspection tools to include micrometers, calipers, ball gages, flashlights, mirrors, ohm meters, laser gauges and depth gages.
Structure inspections include location, gap verification, shim installation, hole drilling, fastener installation, sealing and coatings.
System installations include tube, hose, valve, fastener installation, sealing and coatings common to hydraulic, pneumatic and fuel systems.
Locate, identify and accurately document nonconforming product/material at time of discovery per applicable procedures.
Visually and physically inspect rework and repair for compliance per engineering requirements.
Mentor technicians on nonconforming product/material discovered during inspection to include engineering requirements, how to identify the nonconformance and process improvement.
Develop, promote, and maintain collaborative team environment with fellow inspectors, support organizations and customers.
Work well as part of a team and individually to increase quality, efficiency, effectiveness and affordability through process improvement and other quality control methods.
Must be able to pass formal classroom training to include but not limited to hole drilling, sealing, countersinking, and fastener installation.
Must be able to certify for half and full face respirator
Key Responsibilities
Perform and validate complex composite thickness inspections.
Verify proper measurement equipment, calibration, setup, and inspection technique.
Interpret thickness requirements and applicable engineering documentation.
Evaluate and document measurement results accurately and traceably.
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and potential measurement errors.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to lower-level inspectors.
Support RCCA and corrective actions for recurring thickness issues.
Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve inspection discrepancies.
Prevent defects and customer escapes through disciplined inspection practices.
Serve as the technical point of contact for complex composite thickness requirements
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma plus 6 years relevant mechanical and or inspection work experience.
Must have experienced familiarity with inspection tools
Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule.
Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time.
Must be technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical and repetitious work to include climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, and kneeling, lifting, working with arms overhead, leaning and laying.
Must be able to lift, grip, push, pull and hold 25+ pounds.
Must have the ability to fit through an access portal leading to a confined space through an oval opening of 14 inches by 18 inches, including (but not limited to) fuel tanks and ducts, and to push and pull own body weight to enter and exit confined spaces.
Must have the ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time. (Time in confined space can exceed 6+ hours)
Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to start.
Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation in order to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of aircraft structures, systems or electrical experience.
5+ years of aircraft quality experience.
Preliminary Review Authority or previous Preliminary Review Authority is required with a first pass yield of 94% or greater.
Active Secret Clearance.
Ability to obtain Special Program Access.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
Experience with MRB process preferred.
