Job Overview and Responsibilities

Technical Operations includes the maintenance and overhaul of United’s fleet. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment, facilities, supply chain teams and more.

The Base Maintenance Material Controller is responsible for supporting the completion of heavy maintenance and modification activity by ensuring the timely delivery of pre-draw and in-check materials. As an on-site material representative and as required, will provide guidance to OSV purchasing group in acquiring materials that each specific OSV is contractually responsible to procure.

  • Action request(s) in United’s material ordering system (TOCS/Partselerate) to ensure material is delivered to required station within timeframe requirements and input update(s) for material entries until part is received
  • Responsible for the fulfillment of planned material required for the execution of scheduled workload to support maintenance visit(s) at either outside vendor location(s) (OSV) or internal base location(s)
  • Foster relationships both with internal and external business partners by working closely with suppliers, on-site Maintenance and Quality representatives to identify material requirements and determine the best method in obtaining materials utilizing company inventories and best sourcing practices
  • Material Controller(s) will be required to understand various Corporate and Government regulated manuals; these include the General Maintenance Manual, the Illustrated Parts Catalog (I.P.C.), the IATA Dangerous Goods Manual, various Service Bulletins, and different Engineering Change Request
  • Aid and provide guidance to internal business partners/outside vendor (OSV) stakeholders for best practices on long term procurement strategies
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production Controller(s) for material that is unavailable and/or evaluate alternate options to support material requirements for heavy maintenance events, which may include robbing & expediting material, material purchase(s), review raw stock availability and in-house fabrication
  • Initiate M&E# part number set up in United’s ERP system (Sceptre), as needed during standard working hours as well as create purchase orders (PO) and ensure PO receipt, payment, and finalization
  • Purchase aircraft parts from OEM(s), approved distributors, and/or third-party brokers at the best overall cost to the company to support the heavy maintenance event
  • Work with technicians/leads/supervisors at the OSV(s) on issues that arise, trends observed or ways to streamline the operation
  • Coordinate with courier services, large shipment movement with internal traffic and provide tracking until receipt, as well as assist in filing claims if courier loses or damages shipment when needed to support heavy maintenance check
  • Coordinate all drop shipments from suppliers for pre-draw and future work and determine the fastest and most economical means of transportation

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • AS in Aviation Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business or related fields or comparable experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • 2+ years’ experience as an AOG or Base Logistics Controller
  • Must be legally authorized to work in El Salvador for any employer without sponsorship
