The Flight Sciences division is responsible for the development and certification of Gulfstream Flight Control Laws and Automated Guidance Systems—complex, safety-critical systems that require rigorous validation and verification to ensure performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a Control Law Systems Engineer focused on Validation & Verification (V&V) to join our Flight Dynamics team in Savannah, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring control law system requirements are correct, complete, and properly verified in accordance with SAE ARP4754A processes.

You will work across a highly cross-functional environment, partnering with Systems Engineering, Flight Controls, Software, Test, Flight Operations, and external stakeholders to validate requirements, define verification strategies, and support certification activities, including FAA audits.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Author, review, and validate control law system-level requirements in IBM DOORS
• Ensure complete requirements traceability (aircraft → system → software)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are clear, testable, and technically accurate
• Develop and execute verification strategies using multiple methods:
  • Test bench (flight control computer / unit-level testing)
  • Linear and nonlinear analysis
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and integrated “ironbird” testing
• Design and execute test procedures and verification cases
• Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Identify gaps in requirements, test cases, or procedures and drive corrective actions
• Generate verification reports, analysis reports, and certification artifacts
• Support FAA certification activities and System Design Reviews (SDR), including:
  • Audit preparation and execution
  • Demonstrating compliance to ARP4754A processes
  • Disposition of verification or process deviations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of V&V processes, tools, and methodologies

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 18 months of related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Master's and 4 years for PhD in a field applicable to the job position.
• Experience in requirements-based development, validation, and verification
• Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS (or equivalent requirements tools)
• Experience writing or executing test plans, procedures, and reports
• Familiarity with system integration and verification environments
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
• Excellent technical communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with flight control systems or control law architectures
• Familiarity with SAE ARP4754A development processes
• Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-331
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or system integration labs (ironbird)
• Background in linear or nonlinear system analysis
• Experience supporting FAA certification efforts or audits
• Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink for analysis or verification support
• Experience troubleshooting verification discrepancies and implementing fixes

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Position Purpose:Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

1. Solves typical engineering problems within assigned discipline .

Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes to completion of project milestones . Responsible for a complex engineering assignment, or a full project of lesser complexity . Follows established schedules while developing plans for engineering assignments . Obtains appropriate level of supervisor approvals for work accuracy and adequacy . Proficiently applies company/organization policies and procedures .Additional Functions:

1. Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements .

Maintains a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise .Perform other duties as assigned.Other Requirements:

1. The level of technical skills and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.

Applies knowledge to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, using a combination of judgment with defined practices and procedures. Failure to achieve results, or erroneous decisions or recommendations, may cause delays in program schedules and/or allocation of additional resources. Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats. Contacts are primarily within the organization, with occasional customer contacts on routine issues. Works under general supervision for routine tasks of minor complexity. With supervision/mentorship, can coordinate the activities for lower level engineering staff.
