Job Description
The Cloud DevOps Engineer supports the Cloud Common Platform Team by designing and building enterprise cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform capabilities that enable development Teams to deliver solutions efficiently and securely. They’ll leverage tools such as Terraform and GitLab to develop reusable modules, templates, pipelines, and policies that support cloud adoption and modernization efforts across the organization. They’ll partner with application, Security, and Architecture Teams to deliver scalable, secure, and well‑integrated cloud solutions that align with enterprise standards. The Cloud DevOps Engineer leverages strong technical expertise and a continuous improvement mindset to drive platform innovation, accelerate delivery, and support Southwest’s cloud transformation strategy.
Additional Details:
This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, New Hampshire New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming, and Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities- Operate in a DevOps culture and team, responsible for architecture, design, development, implementation, and ongoing operations of new and emerging technology platforms
- Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD)
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of cloud infrastructure
- Establish and/or follow procedures and standards to ensure high quality and quantity of work
- Establish or follow prioritization processes to drive work and has a sense of urgency about getting work completed
- Consult with stakeholders to specify requirements and solutions which address business challenges and opportunities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure, performing design reviews and consulting with your teams to ensure design best practices
- Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes
- Participate in system and acceptance testing to ensure that systems are functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated
- Test and implement system and enhancements using techniques that preserve system integrity
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Knowledge of AWS Infrastructure as a Service Automation tools like Cloud Formation
- Knowledge of AWS compute, data sources, security technologies
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IAC)
- Skilled in deployment strategies using Docker for containerization
- Skilled in monitoring tools
- Ability to mentor and guide team members' learning, including introducing new ideas and technologies
- Ability to anticipate business needs and lead a team towards identifying and solving cross-domain problems
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information systems or similar fields of study or equivalent advanced level experience

Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $119,900 - $133,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
