Associate Legal Specialist (Qatari Nationals Only)

About the role

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join our Group Legal team as an Associate Legal Specialist, based in Doha, Qatar.

As an Associate Legal Specialist, you will support the review, analysis, negotiation, drafting and administration of technology, digital and commercial contracts contracts across the Qatar Airways Group. Working closely with internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Cyber Security, Data Protection, IT and Digital teams, external parties and other Legal Specialists, you will help ensure that contracts for technology products, software, cloud services, AI solutions and related services are commercially sound, properly documented, compliant with applicable requirements and aligned with the interests of the Qatar Airways Group.

Specific responsibilities for the role include

Contracting and Legal Support

• Support contract evaluations, including basic cost and price analysis, contract source selection and the preparation and assembly of contracts including technology, software licensing, cloud services and professional services agreements.
• Review, analyse, negotiate and draft technology and digital contracts, including software licences, SaaS agreements, cloud services agreements, implementation and professional services agreements, maintenance and support agreements, non-disclosure agreements and related contracts for supplies and services across Qatar Airways Group.
• Coordinate with internal functions including Procurement, IT, Cyber Security, Data Protection, and Business Owners to support advance planning and ensure the contracting approach, lead times and specifications are appropriate and accurate.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to explain contractual requirements and interpretations.
• Review contractual proposals in coordination with relevant departments to identify commercially feasible, technically suitable and cost-effective solutions that appropriately address security, privacy and operational requirements.
• Improve the quality of contracts by reviewing and modifying contractual language and ensuring key legal, technology-specific and commercial considerations are addressed including intellectual property rights, data protection and information security.
• Support Contracts Department management in negotiating productive, continuous and cost-effective commercial arrangements.
• Identify contractual concerns and support the development of appropriate mitigation measures including risks relating to cyber security, personal data processing, AI usage, intellectual property ownership, service continuity and supplier performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation throughout the contract administration and management process.
• Support the review of tender documentation, requests for proposal (RFPs), requests for quotation (RFQs), supplier deviations and contract templates used in technology procurement activities.

Governance and Process Improvement

• Contribute to the development and improvement of contracting policies, procedures contract templates and guidance including in relation to technology procurement and digital transformation projects.
• Implement contracting practices that reflect strong business judgment, ethical conduct and fiscal responsibility.
• Support the use of automated systems and internal processes to improve contracting efficiency and monitor outcomes.
• Help ensure contracting activities remain responsive to business requirements and compliant with relevant statutory, regulatory and internal governance requirements.
• Read, interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and contractual terms.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to address gaps and minimize duplication between functional areas.
• Handle information in accordance with Qatar Airways Group data protection, confidentiality and information security requirements.
