Approved Workshop Engineer - Engines

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out engine maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and company procedures.
• Perform strip, clean, inspection, build and test activities on aircraft engines.
• Investigate, diagnose and repair engine faults.
• Certify maintenance tasks within the scope of your company authorisation.
• Provide on-wing engine support at base locations and potentially at detached operating locations.
• Maintain accurate engine maintenance records and work pack documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Promote and maintain high housekeeping and workshop cleanliness standards.
• Liaise effectively with Engineering Control, Line Maintenance and Base Maintenance teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop.
• Assist with audits, workplace inspections and quality assurance activities.
• Support the investigation and closure of audit findings, safety reports and improvement actions.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage effective incident reporting.
• Ensure effective tool control and the safe use of workshop equipment.
• Support the development and growth of the Engine Workshop team.
• Work flexibly to support operational and customer requirements when required.

Essential

• Engineering apprenticeship trained, ideally within aviation.
• Formal mechanical engineering qualification, preferably BTEC Level 3 or higher.
• Minimum three years' experience within an aviation engineering or similar engineering environment.
• Experience working within an engine, gas turbine, production, maintenance or workshop environment.
• Sound understanding of aircraft maintenance regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work with precision measuring equipment and to tight engineering tolerances.
• Strong technical English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability to deliver work to deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards.
• IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Human Factors awareness and understanding.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Desirable

• Previous experience in an aircraft maintenance base or workshop environment.
• Additional aircraft engine maintenance experience.
• Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives or projects.
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance activities.
• On-wing engine support experience.
