This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the UK's most important defence programmes. You'll contribute to the manufacture of tactical missile tube assemblies for the Common Missile Compartment programme, supporting both the UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine projects. As a Welder, you'll play a critical role in delivering complex fabrication and welding activities that support the Royal Navy's future submarine capability. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on technically demanding projects using advanced welding techniques while building a long-term career with a leading international defence, aerospace and engineering organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Performing welding activities using a range of specialist welding processes to exact quality standards.
- Operating, setting up and maintaining welding equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
- Conducting visual inspections to ensure welds meet project and quality specifications.
- Monitoring temperatures using digital and thermal equipment and managing pre-heating activities.
- Supporting continuous improvement by completing equipment checks and reporting faults when identified.
You'll work 39 hours per week at our Rosyth site on a rotational shift pattern of 12-hour day and night shifts.
Essential experience of the Welder
- Experience using one or more welding processes including MIG, MAG, TIG, MMA, Tip-Tig or pulsed GMAW-P.
- Ability to carry out welding equipment set-up procedures and prepare associated accessories.
- Proven structural welding experience.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as marine, defence, energy or oil and gas.
- Demonstrable commitment to quality, safety and technical excellence.
Qualifications for the Welder
- Level 3 qualified Welder, indentured apprenticeship in welding, or equivalent extensive industry experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
