- This role is a member of the Engineering Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
- Responsible for supporting American Airlines ODA certification activities before, during, and after aircraft modification programs. This role combines engineering expertise with leadership of conformity inspections, FAA coordination, regulatory compliance, and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll do
- Conducts training for Engineers in area(s) of expertise
- Serves as mentor to other Engineers
- Serves as team leader/coordinator in the course of project management or problem resolution
- Serves as the lead coordinator for the ODA Inspection Unit Member (IUM) program, providing oversight of conformity inspection activities and delegated inspection processes.
- Serves as the focal point for conformity-related FAA guidance, policy updates, forms, and inspection best practices.
- Coordinates with manufacturers and regulatory authorities, as required, and ensures that Engineering dispositions are properly substantiated in accordance with applicable regulations and Company manuals
- Keeps informed of day-to-day airline operations involving field of responsibility. Assesses daily priorities in accordance with airline/departmental objectives and management directives
- Responds to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is required to support projects or resolve problems
- Supports ODA compliance through audits, procedure updates, UM training initiatives, and monitoring of current and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of current and pending regulations, which affect areas of responsibility and ensures that all Engineering actions maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Utilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience. Also strives to improve communications skills, time management and other personal qualities pertinent to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties
- Actively engages with front line team members and leadership equally
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
- 6 years engineering experience
- Experience supporting FAA conformity inspections and ODA delegated activities.
- Understanding of 14 CFR Parts 21, 25, 121, and 183
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Five or more years of experience working with FAA certification programs, ODA organizations, or aircraft modification projects.
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to analyze technical data and make data driven decisions
- Demonstrates aptitude, ability and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities
- Ability to prepare/deliver presentations that compel acceptance of solutions
- Ability to successfully interact with internal and external customers
