The Specialist, Global Logistics applies knowledge & experience to deliver WestJet materials around the world. Reporting to the Team Lead, Shipping & Logistics, this role will collaborate with WestJet business units in planning and delivery of equipment and supplies to various locations world-wide. The ideal candidate will have experience in International transportation, logistics and customs processes. A critical mindset to meeting customer expectations and the ability to collaborate and plan in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Process requests for logistical services, assess, identify, and perform logistical moves to meet and exceed stakeholder requirements and expectations in the most efficient means possible, reducing costs and avoiding risks
Adhere to Customs procedures to ensure smooth clearance and delivery of shipments
Adhere to Dangerous Goods and other safety regulations to ensure safe transportation and delivery of shipments
Recommend and contribute to development of process improvement
Develop supplier relationships to maximize supplier performance and best cost
Review and process invoices from suppliers
Provide exceptional customer service and support to Global Logistics’ internal and external stakeholders
Coordination and execution of shipments via all modes of transport around the world
Application of regulatory requirements including Int’l Customs, transportation, and dangerous goods regulations
Ongoing tracking, monitoring, and reporting of shipment status to stakeholders
Ability to identify risks and opportunities to plan and implement processes & procedures to optimize logistics activities and reduce costs
Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and leverage advantageous negotiating position for rates, and services
Collaboratively support WestJet business units to identify logistical risks & opportunities within their activities
Contribute and develop data analysis to establish and interpret Key Performance Indicators
Contribute to supplier contracts and agreements development
Assist on special projects when assigned by Team Lead or Manager
Qualifications:
3-5 years of international shipping and logistics experience
High School or equivalent (post-secondary preferred)
Certifications such as CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CIFFA (Certificate in International Freight Forwarding), CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic & Transportation)
Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations Certificate (Air & Ground)
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel,
Help mentoring junior employees & team members
Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, Spanish and French would be an asset
Can provide consistent results in a fast paced and time sensitive environment
Excellent organizational skills
