About the Role

Establish IT domain architecture, technology and delivery standards to cater to the automation needs of assigned business units. Activities include solution reviews, recommending IT architecture and design standards, mentoring the IT delivery team on IT design and development, evaluating technologies and tools and execution of adoption plans in a time-bound manner, evaluation of 3rd party vendor applications, devices and provide technical expertise, lead a team of technical resources based on assigned work program. Lead the governance of systems architectures across assigned business units, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers/suppliers.

Your duties would include

  • Responsible for comprehending Qatar Airways’ business needs, scrutinizing existing systems, and pinpointing potential tech solutions. This includes crafting and overseeing solutions that meet these needs and developing scalable architectures for new services and business models. Pivotal in planning and executing these solutions, driving the organization’s tech progression.

  • Responsible for evaluating and selecting suitable tools and frameworks and overseeing the implementation and integration of solutions.

  • Ensure technological scalability and compliance with security standards through assessing and mitigating the risks associated with the project.

  • Responsible for designing innovative and practical end-to-end technical solution of a system, in line with the business strategy and objectives of the Line of Business (LOB).

  • Collaborate with Solution Architects from other LOBs to identify synergies in solutions and to adopt and standardize common tools and technologies across organization.

  • Contribute to the development of architecture governance structures, methodologies and compliance activities of the organization ensuring that the solution, architecture or methodologies are in compliance to the QR policies and standards.

  • Responsible for reviewing business requirements to deliver artefacts, including Solution Architecture.

  • Contribute and review Functional and Non-functional requirements, Technical Architecture, Interface specifications and high-level design documents.

  • Responsible for breaking down the complex application requirements using functional decomposition and Domain Driven Design, identify Microservices and define APIs for the domains to create better software solutions that are maintainable and scalable.

  • Oversee development of solutions, review artefacts of projects across LOB/scrum teams in order to ensure consistency with design and architecture guidelines.

  • Provide strategic guidance to development teams and ensure that business goals and objectives are aligned.

  • Drive communication plan to educate stakeholders on the purpose and benefits of solution architecture.

  • Plan and execute proof of concepts to demonstrate feasibility of idea, complex solutions and cutting-edge technologies.

  • Drive innovation, to ensure that solutions drive value to the business and customers.

  • Liaise with external 3rd party suppliers and internal departments / IT teams to collaborate and design and implement robust solutions and interfaces between applications.

  • Ensure system designs are manageable, maintainable, scalable, resilient, sustainable, cost effective whilst addressing business requirements.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all application Non-Functional Requirements are met, ensure thorough testing of NFRs and ensure corrective / preventive actions.

  • Assist in review of production readiness, prior to release of the application to Production.

  • Make sure that the items under user acceptance certificate are tested thoroughly by the quality assurance team.

  • Responsible to correctly apply across programs/projects and products the relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices in collaboration with Technical Architecture Group.

  • Anticipate project issues and risks before they occur, and work with the team to identify and implement solutions or mitigations with relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead root cause analysis of reported critical incidents in operational production systems and recommend/ensure implementation of effective preventive actions to avoid repetition.

  • Work closely with QRIT Security and Technology Services team to ensure compliance to IT standards and policies.

  • Contribute to preparation of IT Strategy for business and associated IT budgeting exercise.

  • Takes full responsibility for ensuring that solution designs balance functional, non-functional, security, service quality and systems management requirements.

  • Enforce policy and strategy for the selection of solution design components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency. Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to by the development teams.
