About Role
As Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the design, governance, administration, and continuous improvement of Qatar Airways' global insured benefits programs, including medical insurance, life insurance, disability benefits, personal accident insurance, wellness initiatives, and other employee benefit schemes. You will ensure benefits remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with business objectives while delivering an exceptional employee experience across all locations. You will also manage complex employee cases, maintain strategic relationships with brokers and insurers, and lead benefit design and benchmarking initiatives to support a world-class employee value proposition.

Specific responsibilities for the role include

  • Oversee the administration and governance of all insured employee benefit programs globally, including medical insurance, life insurance, disability benefits, personal accident insurance, wellness programs, and other employee benefits.
  • Develop and implement global benefit strategies that support Qatar Airways' business objectives, employee value proposition, and organizational priorities.
  • Lead annual insurance renewal exercises and negotiate premiums, coverage terms, policy enhancements, and contractual agreements with insurers, brokers, and benefit providers.
  • Manage relationships with insurance brokers, consultants, insurers, and third-party administrators, ensuring effective service delivery and adherence to contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex, sensitive, and high-value employee benefit cases, including exceptional medical claims, disability claims, critical illness cases, insurance disputes, and death-in-service matters.
  • Review and assess benefit utilization, claims experience, cost trends, and insurer recommendations to identify opportunities for program enhancement and improved cost efficiency.
  • Conduct global and regional market benchmarking exercises to ensure employee benefits remain competitive and aligned with industry best practices and multinational market trends.
  • Design, review, and enhance employee benefit schemes across diverse workforce populations, taking into consideration local market practices, regulatory requirements, and business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international legislation, insurance regulations, and corporate governance requirements across all benefit programs.
  • Partner with brokers and external consultants to conduct market reviews, tender exercises, benefit evaluations, and healthcare cost management initiatives.
  • Analyze benefit data, utilization trends, demographic profiles, and financial performance to support strategic decision-making and business case development.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for benefit plan enhancements, policy redesigns, vendor changes, and new benefit initiatives.
  • Lead procurement and vendor selection exercises for employee benefits programs in collaboration with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance through regular governance meetings, service reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, Occupational Health, Procurement, and People Leadership teams to ensure benefit programs effectively support organizational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to management and stakeholders on employee benefits matters, market trends, regulatory developments, and benefit programme effectiveness.
  • Lead communication and employee education initiatives to promote awareness, understanding, and effective utilization of company-sponsored benefits.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, organizational restructuring, and international mobility initiatives by assessing benefit implications and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare management reports, governance papers, executive presentations, and strategic recommendations related to benefits performance, costs, risks, and future opportunities.
  • Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
